Advice from the community will be used by Monroe School Board members as the interviewing starts for the next superintendent on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Administration Building (200 E. Fremont St.). Community members are invited to attend.
Monroe Public Schools Superintendent Ken Hoover plans to retire at the end of the current school year on June 30.
Board members recently held several sessions seeking advice on the experiences and characteristics the community and staff would like to see in the next school-system leader. More than 400 responses were submitted. There is a three-minute survey available online: www.surveymonkey.com/s/monroesupt.
The deadline for candidate applications is Tuesday, Feb. 17. From that pool, board members will select five or six candidates to interview. Community members are invited to attend the Saturday session and record their impressions of candidates on paper, while the board members ask questions.
Finalists will be invited back to the community for a day-long process in early March. For more information, visit www.monroe.wednet.edu.
