The city of Monroe is gearing up for an action-packed weekend at Lake Tye Park with the return of the Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour, a high-energy event featuring wakeboarders and wakesurfers from all over the world.
The Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour event kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, with opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. and an autograph session for fans and their favorite athletes at 2:35 p.m. Wakeboarding is a fast-paced sport where riders are pulled by boats while performing dynamic acrobatics on wakeboards. Monroe is the third stop on a five-stop international competition tour throughout the United States and Canada.-á -á
Men's Pro Surf Finals will begin at 2:50 p.m., after the autograph session.
The event skipped Monroe last year, and the city is excited to welcome them back, said Monroe Parks Director Mike Farrell. In previous years, the event has been nationally televised and drawn more than 6,000 spectators. Day-of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids age six through 12. Children five and under are free, as are guests with military identification and three friends and/or family members.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online for a discounted rate of $5.
The event is being sponsored by the Monroe Parks Department, Supra Boats, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, the Snohomish County Sports Commission, Active Water Sports and Northwest Inboards. No coolers, food or pets are permitted at the event.
Coupons for $5 off adult admission can be obtained at Monroe City Hall, 806 W. Main St., and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, 125 S. Lewis St. near downtown Monroe. Lake Tye Park is at 14964 Fryelands Blvd. in Monroe.-á
