Swift watch part of International Migratory Bird Day

The Pilchuck Audubon Society is bringing International Migratory Bird Day celebrations to Monroe on Saturday, May 11.
Join the Vaux's Swift Watch at the Frank Wagner Center, 639 W. Main St. from 8 to 8:30 p.m.-á Vaux's Swifts are a small, aerial species which uses the chimney at Wagner-áCenter during spring and fall migration. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and watch as the birds circle above the chimney at dusk and then plunge into the flue, flipping from head-first to tail-first as they go inside. Bring binoculars, if possible.
A docent will be available at the event.
International Migratory Bird Day was created in 1993 by the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center and the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. It focuses on one of the most important and spectacular events in the life of a migratory bird -- the journey between summer and winter homes. It is celebrated in-áCanada, the United States, Mexico and Central America through bird festivals, bird walks, and education programs. We invite you to join us in this important celebration.
