The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reports it arrested two fugitives wanted in Utah at a home in the 63400 block of State Route 2 in Gold Bar on Thursday.

Gavin Michael Haar, 25, was charged with first-degree murder and child abuse in Iron County 5th District Court in southern Utah on Wednesday, Oct. 10, for allegedly killing his girlfriend’s two-year-old son, according to the Deseret News.

Brittany Juanita Hall, 25, was charged with second-degree child abuse, obstructing justice and third-degree child abuse.

Haar allegedly severely beat the boy on June 12 at the home they shared in Cedar City, and then convinced Hall to go along with a cover-up story that there had been an ATV accident.

“His body ‘was covered with numerous bruises on his forehead, eyes, ears, mouth and several circular bruises on the chest and abdomen,’” the Deseret News reports the charges state. “‘The medical examiner concluded that (the boy) died of blunt force injuries to the abdomen. … The medical examiner determined the manner of death was homicide.’”

A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office news release states the couple was arrested by the Violent Offender Task Force around 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11, after the task force learned they were hiding at the Gold Bar residence.

Haar and Hall will be brought back to Utah to face their charges.
