Thanks for opening help at garden

Julia V. Morris Food Bank Garden administrator Jeannette Susor is thanking volunteers who came out for opening day on Saturday, April 14.

Burlap bags were removed in the Red Section of the garden outside the Sky Valley Food Bank, and weeds were removed and compost was added to beds. Burlaps was placed between the beds and covered with straw for people to walk on. Susor reports beds will be ready to plan in a few weeks.

Sky Valley Food Bank volunteer Roger Swenson rototilled the Green Section the week before.

A local Boy Scout created the food bank garden in 1999, and it is named after Julia V. Morris, who started the Sky Valley Food Bank in Monroe more than 40 years ago.

The food bank and garden are at 233 Sky River Parkway, and volunteers are always needed. Contact volunteer garden director Marilee Schneider at 425-754-2445 or m.schneider9741@hotmail.com.
