Thomas hosting third Coffee with the Mayor event on Aug. 13

Members of the Monroe community wishing for an opportunity to sit down with the mayor will be excited to learn that Monroe Mayor Geoffrey Thomas is giving them the opportunity to do just that.

The next "Coffee with the MayorGÇ¥ event takes place 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Paesano's Coffee, on Fryelands Boulevard near Lake Tye.

This will be the mayor's third Coffee with the Mayor event, with each one taking place at a different local restaurant. Some of the topics discussed during previous meetings have included veterans' assistance programs, S.R. 522 improvements, the U.S. 2 Monroe bypass, the impacts of drugs on the Monroe community and the intersection of Blueberry and North Kelsey.
