Thomas Walter "TommyGÇ¥ Marthini, Jr. of Maltby, Monroe, Machias, Granite Falls, and most recently of Soap Lake, Washington, went to be with his brother Chris, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and his love of 20 years, Melody Millbach on March 15, 2014. Tommy leaves here his sons, Dustin of Monroe, WA and Daniel of Skyway, WA; his mother, Marilyn Marthini and father Tom, Sr. (and wife, Sannia); his brother, John (Renee), all of the Soap Lake & Ephrata area; as well as his sister, Pam Morrell (J. Scott) of Richland, WA. Tommy spent the last few years living at his mom's, helping her get through the loss of her mother, sister and brother and recovering from her own severe illness in 2010. As a child Tommy enjoyed climbing trees, building roads in the dirt, waterskiing, and racing dirt bikes with his brothers. Tommy attended schools in Maltby, Monroe and Woodinville. Besides hunting, fishing, camping with his friends and family, he loved working in the dirt. Tommy was a very accomplished excavator, and a 25+ year member of Local 302, Operating Engineers. He worked with Scarcella Construction, Hos Brothers Construction, Snohomish Water Treatment and Sewage to name a few, and his dad's company, Tom's Backhoe and Excavation Company. He helped his brother John with his racecar, and really enjoyed that. Tommy had neck surgery years ago to try and correct damage from years of pounding his body on heavy equipment, then his last battle came on suddenly; he was diagnosed with a rapid growing, aggressive and inoperable cancer in October, 2013. Tommy leaves several longtime friends, loving cousins and special friend Judy Grant; as well as nieces, Samantha Jo, Michelle Lee, Tamara Bell, and Amanda Donahoe. Tommy had big dreams, but his body wore out before they could be realized. Thanks to Assured Hospice nurses, they were fantastic. The care and comfort they provided to Tommy and the family was wonderful. Please express your thoughts and memories for the family at www.nicolesfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the care of Nicoles Funeral Home of Ephrata, WA.
