Steve Jensen of Monroe shows off the Lotto ticket he designed, which goes on sale this week. Jensen, who doesn't play Lotto much and who doesn't consider himself an artist, nevertheless was intrigued when he saw that the Washington State Lottery was holding a design-a-ticket contest.
At the time, there was some excitement on the news about NASA, and Jensen thought of a space-themed ticket. So he sat down and designed a ticket that featured rocks scattered over the surface of Mars. The rocks could be scratched away to reveal aliens, the number of aliens under the rock determining the prize amount.
His ticket won the design contest, and this week, the Life on Mars ticket goes on sale.
