Two accidents snarl traffic last week

A serious accident on U.S. Highway 2 Monday, May 19 set the counter on the sign totaling the days-á since the last accident to zero, when a semi truck rear-ended a car that was stopped on the highway, waiting to make a left turn.
A Vancouver man, 37, was driving west in a Mazda and was waiting to make a left turn near Skykomish when a Kenworth truck, also driving west, struck the car from behind.
The driver of the Mazda was transported to Valley General Hospital. His passenger, a woman, 29, also of Vancouver, was taken to Harborview.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
The cause of the crash is reported as speed.
Tuesday, May 20, at about 4 p.m., a crash took place on SR 203 near High Rock Road.
A Mukilteo man, 54, was headed north on SR 203 toward Monroe when a Woodinville man, 59, who was headed west on High Rock Road in a 2012 Chevy pickup, ran a stop sign, crashing into the Mukilteo driver.
Both vehicles, including the Mukilteo man's 2000 Chevy Blazer, were destroyed.
The Woodinville man was transported to Providence in Everett, and the Mukilteo man to Valley General Hospital in Monroe, but neither had serious injuries.
Police at this time believe alcohol to have been a factor.
