Stanley and Joana Kinger, ages 79 and 76, were both killed in a crash on SR 522 Monday afternoon, and a Monroe father and infant were injured.
At about 3:09 p.m., Gerardo Martinezurrutia, 24, of Monroe, was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse toward Monroe on SR 522 with an infant, age 1, in the car.
The man veered onto the shoulder, struck a traffic barrel, over-corrected and crossed the center line, where his vehicle struck a westbound 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Stanley Kinger.
His passenger, Joana Kinger, died at the scene. Stanley Kinger was taken to Harborview, where he died of his injuries.
The Monroe man was also seriously injured and transported to Harborview, as was the infant, a girl named Bella.
The police do not know why the driver veered off the road. The matter is under investigation. As yet, no charges have been filed.
The police report does differ from various news reports. Some news outlets report that the Monroe man died at the hospital, and not the Redmond driver. If corrections need to be made, they will be made as more details emerge.
