Unidentified woman pulled from lower Wallace Falls

Sheriff's office reports visitors saw body in water; so far no missing persons report

A woman's body was pulled from a pond below the lower Wallace Falls on Tuesday afternoon.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office reports it doesn’t know her identity or the reason she was in the river. Visitors taking photos spotted the woman's “body bobbing in the water,” according to a news release, and called 911 around 4 p.m. No one has reported a missing person in Wallace Falls State Park.

Local agencies responded to help look for the woman's body, including agencies from Monroe and Gold Bar — Snohomish County fire districts 7 and 26. Water, ground and aerial searches were conducted.

The sheriff's office’s SnoHAWK1 helicopter was also deployed, according to the release. Once the woman was found, the Sheriff's Office Dive Team helped recover her body.

Fire units helped transport her to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner. The agency will work to determine the woman's identity, and her cause and manner of death.
