Just before the end of the workday Friday, Monroe's Union Bank downtown was robbed by a man who passed a note to a teller, demanding money, then fled on foot.
At 5:35 p.m. Friday, the bank reported a robbery. Officers arrived at the bank, which is in the 200 block of West Main Street, and an employee said that a man had come in and passed a note to the teller demanding cash.
The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and the man, who implied that he had a weapon but didn't display one, fled.
The man was captured on camera, and is described as a white male in his mid 40s, with dark brown hair and a full beard, brown with grey. He was wearing a brown coat, a camouflage ball cap and work boots.
He left the area on foot.
