Vandalism in Lake Tye Park restroom

Monroe Police report the doors to a restroom in Lake Tye Park were kicked in and the facility was vandalized overnight.

The call came in at 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, and responding officers found broken toilet seats inside the restroom, and toilet paper and trash was used to clog the toilets.

Officers also documented damage to the storm drain, and trashcans in the park that were knocked over.

The lock to a restroom in Al Borlin Park was also damaged overnight, but nothing was damaged inside. MPD administrative director Debbie Willis tells the Monitor the damage to the lock is estimated at $200.
