Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ladies Auxiliaries in Arlington, Gold Bar, Sultan, Monroe, Edmonds, Snohomish, Lynnwood-áand Everett are encouraging students to enter the National Patriotic Essay Contest.
The Youth Essay theme for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders is "My American Hero isGǪGǥ Entries must be written essays.
The Patriot's Pen Essay theme for middle school students is "What Patriotism Means to Me.GÇ¥ Entries must be written essays.
Ninth through 12th grade students' Voice of Democracy theme is "Why I'm Optimistic About Our Nation's Future.GÇ¥-á These must be audio essays.
Prizes are awarded at all grade levels for first, second and th place winners.
The submission deadline for all essays is Nov. 1. They can be turned in-áto-áa local-áVFW Post.
