Eatonville council resumes meetings with limited agendas

Eatonville Town Council members met virtually for the first time April 13 since the March 24 meeting was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Owing to the ongoing pandemic, Mayor Mike Schaub noted council meetings will be limited in structure and light on superfluous agenda items, as confirmed by the fact there was no unfinished or new business on the agenda. Councilwoman Emily McFadden inquired about the possibility of Eatonville’s Fourth of July festivities — a fireworks display and parade — going on as scheduled in light of the governor’s emergency declaration, which is effective through May 4 but could be extended. Schaub indicated he would be following the governor’s lead in what is a fluid situation.

“It’s really uncertain,” he said about any major future plans that involve large gatherings of people.

Given the emergency proclamation by Gov. Jay Inslee and social distancing guidelines meant to slow or stop the spread of COVID-19, Eatonville Town Council meetings will now be held virtually and telephonically. The public can “attend” meetings by calling in at 253-215-8782, meeting ID 314 134 722.

Public comment must be submitted in writing prior to the meeting by placing a hard copy of comments in the payment drop at Town Hall or via email at townclerk@eatonville-wa.gov. Public comment must be received by 5 p.m. the day of the meeting. The Eatonville Town Council meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month.
