Lady Cruisers Down Rival Cardinals 42-32

The Cruisers would lead the whole game and pick up their 5th win of the season with a 42-32 victory.
The game would be tight in the first quarter with the Cruisers leading 11-9.
Eatonville’s defense would really clamp down in the 2nd quarter by only allowing 2 Cardinal points while they scored another 9 to extend their lead to 9 at the half, 20-11.
The 3rd quarter saw more great defense from the Cruisers. They would hold the Cardinals to 6 points to lead 31-17 at the end of the quarter.
Orting would try to claw their way back into the game outscoring the Cruisers 15-11 in the final frame, but their comeback would fall short.
Fresh off her school record 43 point performance. Hailey Rath would back it up by leading the Cruisers with 21 points on the night. Brooklynn Rath would pick up her 2nd double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kya Stewart was a rebounding machine pulling down 17 rebounds on the night.
Scoring: H. Rath 21 points, B. Lucht 10 points, K. Stewart 7 points, S. Henley 2 points, A. Hutchings 2 points
With four players out for the Cruisers heading into Wednesday’s match up with #4 ranked White River Hornets, their sideline resembled more of a MASH unit than a bench.
A combination of the Hornets’ incredibly quick ball movement to find the open player, their hot shooting from beyond the arc, and their menacing full court defense did the Cruisers in.
White River’s junior guard Kara Marecle would prove tough to defend for the Cruisers as she would score a game high 28 points. It appeared as though she couldn’t miss from beyond the 3-point arc as she led the Hornets to a 71-32 victory.
The Hornet defense was also very disciplined all night. Eatonville would only be sent to the free throw line 3 times. Going 2-3 in those attempts.
Kya Stewart would lead the Cruisers in scoring with 12 points, 8 of them coming in the second half. Hailey Rath would contribute with 11 points, 9 in the first half. Alexia Price had a great game on the boards for the Cruisers with 7 rebounds.
Scoring: K. Stewart 12 points, H. Rath 11 points, G. Mervyn 3 points, H. Kralik 2 points, A. Price 2 points, B. Lucht 2 points
The Lady Cruisers looked to get back to their winning ways when they headed to Franklin Pierce to take on the Lady Cardinals.
With the Cruisers still without 4 of their key players and the Cardinals shooting much better than the teams first meeting this season. Franklin Pierce would take out the Cruisers 61-35.
The Cruisers would start the game off going on a 6-0 run before the Cardinals could get things going on offense.
Once the Cardinals got their offense going, there was no stopping them. They were a great perimeter shooting team all night. They also rebounded very well to keep the Cruisers from picking up any second chance points.
Eatonville would lead at the end of the 1st 14-13, but that lead was quickly erased.
The Lady Cardinals would outscore the Cruisers in each of the final quarters to take the win.
Kya Stewart would pick up her 6th double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. She picked up the double-double by halftime with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Scoring: K. Stewart 13 points, H. Rath 9 points, B. Lucht 8 points, E. Bennett 2 points, G. Mervyn 3 points
The Lady Cruisers would cap off their week of basketball by hosting the Olympic Trojans in a non-league match up.
Hailey Rath would grab the tip from Kya Stewart to start the game and race to the hoop to score the first 2 of her 23 points in the game. Unfortunately, Rath’s 23 points wouldn’t be enough as the Trojans marched to a 59-49 win.
The Cruisers are still without 4 of their key players and have been limping along since the Clover Park game. Berkeley Porter would get another start for the injured Sophia Henley and would score a career high 7 points in the game for the Cruisers.
Kya Stewart would pick up her 7th double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Brooklynn Lucht would pull down 10 rebounds as well.
Scoring: H. Rath 23 points, K. Stewart 13 points, B. Porter 7 points, G. Mervyn 5 points, B. Lucht 1 point
