The Eatonville School District is on the market for a new superintendent after the Peninsula School District Board of Directors announced Friday it selected Eatonville Superintendent Krestin Bahr for its top job.

After a number of interviews, Bahr was selected as the new superintendent over the other finalist, South Kitsap School District Superintendent Tim Winter, according to a Peninsula School District news release. The Peninsula school board will approve Bahr's contract Thursday.

"The board has spent several months reviewing all stakeholder input from various surveys and extensively researched each candidate in preparing for this monumental decision,” Peninsula School Board President David Olson said in the news release. “We were humbled to have such accomplished and deserving applicants.”

According to the press release, Olson said the board chose the candidate with a history of “transformative and inspiring leadership” that has resulted in greater student outcomes and staff growth opportunities.

“Krestin Bahr is very aware of and committed to bringing our community together to build a vision and strategic plan that grows an educational environment which prepares all students for life beyond the Peninsula School District,” Olson said in the announcement.

In the release, Bahr stated she was excited for the next step in her career and was “honored and humbled” to be selected.

“I look forward to sharing my passionate advocacy of all students and their success with everyone in the Peninsula School District,” Bahr said in the press release.

Bahr will begin her new role on July 1. She has worked in the Eatonville School District since 2013.
