Halloween activities planned for children, families

A couple of family-friendly Halloween events are coming up in Eatonville on Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 for people who haven't found something to do.

The Eatonville Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Trick-or-Treat the Businesses starting at 1 p.m Oct. 30.

Eatonville Chamber of Commerce member Kelli Loudin stated that “almost all of the businesses participate, and the businesses are encouraged to place the pumpkin we provide them in their window so folks know who is participating.”

Trick-or-treaters are instructed to look for the pumpkins during the event.

“Last year, we were fortunate with great weather so businesses had people outside to greet all the trick-or-treaters,” Loudin said.

The Eatonville Chamber of Commerce is leaving it up to the businesses to decide to greet the trick-or-treaters outside. Because of the congestion of people participating in the Trick-or-Treat the Businesses event, it is preferred that the businesses have someone greet children outside, but if the weather is not cooperating, greeting the trick-or-treaters inside is also OK.

The Salvation Army at Camp Arnold is hosting a Halloween Party from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 at 33412 Webster Road E., Eatonville. The event is open for everyone, and residents are free to wear  costumes. The Salvation Army at Camp Arnold is looking for volunteers for this event as well as donations. Donations can be made by emailing courney.sargent@usw.salvationarmy.org, or stop by the office. They are currently looking for people to donate candy for this event.

Northwest Trek Wildlife Park is hosting the Pumpkin Chomp and Stomp on from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 through Oct. 31 at the park, 11610 Trek Drive E., Eatonville. The event is free with admission and membership.

The purpose of the Pumpkin Chomp and Stomp is to watch the animals play and eat the pumpkins. There are free roaming area tours, and children can play at the Kids’ Trek playground.

People are invited to wear costumes.
