Melode Ann Akervick January 2, 1947-August 13, 2022

Melode Ann Akervick passed away on August 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 2, 1947, in Morton, WA to Okey and Shirley Clevenger. Melode was raised in Ashford, WA, graduating from Columbia Crest School and valedictorian from Eatonville High School. She loved growing up surrounded by an extended family and on a farm where she could ride her beloved horses.
After high school, Melode attended the University of Washington and majored in business. While at the University of Washington, Melode met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Akervick. They married in 1967 and shortly after set off for Germany as Bob was an officer in the Army. They lived in Germany for several years and during that time their daughter, Brooke, was born. Bob was transferred back to the United States in 1976 and their son, Nathan, was born in Wisconsin.
Melode loved traveling to new places and meeting new people but always longed to come back to Washington where she loved the water and the mountains. Bob and Melode moved back to Washington State in 1980 and made Eatonville, WA their permanent home.
Melode continued with her family tradition as a USPS contractor and delivered mail to many small communities including Mount Rainier National Park. She also was the Eatonville Town Treasurer for 24 years. She was proud to be an elected official and make a difference in her small town.
Melode loved her family fiercely and was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many. There wasn’t anything in this world she cherished more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. One of Melode’s greatest qualities was listening. She never rushed a conversation and made sure you knew she cared about what you had to say.
Melode is survived by her husband, Bob, Brooke Lundberg (Joe), Nathan Akervick, Terri Ise and three grandchildren: Claire, Erik and Tyler. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Clevenger (Sandy) and sister, Gail Schaub (Bob), and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a public reception honoring Melode’s life on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the Eatonville Community Center, 305 Center Street West, Eatonville, WA 98328 from 3:15PM-5:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her honor to the Eatonville Family Agency, 305 Center Street West/P.O. Box 1764, Eatonville, WA 98328.
