After not playing a game for 13 days because of the holiday break, the Eatonville Cruiser boys basketball team didn’t look rusty at all as they got things started back up to kick off the new year.
The Cruisers' only game of the week was a trip to Elma Jan. 5 to open up Evergreen 1A league play, where they took on the Eagles (2-5) and made quick work of them, coming away with a 61-34 victory for their third win in a row.
A 17-4 run to start the second quarter combined with a 15-7 run in the third quarter spelled trouble for the Eagles and allowed Eatonville to cruise to the win and improve to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
Walker Bruun led the Cruisers with 6-10 shooting for 15 points, followed by Reilly McIlraith's 13 points and Shay Brannon's 12. Kyle Cox checked in with nine points and nine rebounds.
Eatonville was scheduled to host games against Tenino on Friday and Rochester on Saturday, but because of severe flooding in those areas, the games were canceled for safety reasons. They hope to reschedule those games at later dates.
Next up for the Cruisers are home games against Montesano, Friday, and Morton-White Pass, Saturday. Both games will tip off at 7 p.m.
