A new year and a new face on the Pierce County Council.
Robyn Denson, who served on the Gig Harbor City Council since 2020, was sworn in as the newest member of the council by retired Pierce County Court District Judge Frank Dacca on Jan. 3.
“I’m excited to get to work serving my constituents in both the urban and rural areas of my district,” Denson, a Democrat, said in a statement put out by the council. “I look forward to working with my council colleagues and the community on important initiatives, including ending homelessness, lowering crime, improving mental health and ensuring we are protecting the environment for future generations.”
Denson’s predecessor, Derek Young, served as the council chair for the last two years, completing his second term in office on Dec. 31.
Councilmembers Dave Morell and Marty Campbell were sworn in for their second terms.
A resolution appointing councilmembers and staff to positions on external boards, commissions, committees and other organizations was held over until the council’s next meeting on Tuesday.
