The Eatonville Cruiser girls tennis team secured a hard-fought victory against the Castle Rock Rockets on Wednesday to clinch a 3-2 win, rebounding from a previous setback to White Salmon.
The match, held on April 10 in Castle Rock, saw a spirited display of athleticism from both teams. Despite an early setback, the Lady Cruisers showcased resilience and determination throughout the competition.
In the number 1 singles match, Bailey Andersen battled but ultimately fell short, losing 4-6, 5-7. However, Alayna Meyer swiftly turned the tide with an impressive straight-set victory of 6-3, 6-3 in singles number 2. Isabel Volk then sealed the team's triumph with a decisive win in singles number 3, dominating her opponent with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
The doubles matches showcased the team's depth. Jennavieve Smith and Megan Blake demonstrated their prowess in their debut at number 1 doubles, securing a commanding victory with scores of 6-1, 6-2. Meanwhile, Kate Marsh and Tam Thompson faced a tough challenge in number 2 doubles, ultimately conceding with scores of 1-6, 1-6.
Looking ahead, the Cruisers are gearing up for more action-packed encounters. They are set to host the Stevenson Bulldogs on April 16, in a crucial league match. Later in the week, on April 18 they will hit the road to take on the Hoquiam Grizzlies, concluding their week with another challenging fixture.
