Eatonville cross country team picks up victories

The Eatonville High School cross country teams opened their 2A South Puget Sound League season in commanding fashion, sweeping both the boys and girls team titles on Thursday, Sept. 26. The meet, held at Camp Arnold in Eatonville, featured strong competition from Steilacoom and Washington High Schools, but the Cruisers emerged victorious with multiple top-10 finishes in both races.

Boys Recap

The Eatonville boys, led by junior Colton Rush, displayed depth and consistency, securing the overall team victory with five runners in the top 12. Rush took first place with a strong time of 17:55, crossing the finish line over 20 seconds ahead of his closest competitor.

Sophomore Benjamin Bernt followed in third, finishing in 18:23, while freshman Gabriel Kolsrud impressed with a personal best of 18:49 to claim fifth place. The Cruisers continued to pile on points with sophomore Titus Lowe taking 10th in 19:53, and sophomore Tytus Goode finishing 12th in 20:19, completing Eatonville’s scoring five.

Senior Joey Callon (14th, 20:41) and senior Ben Morrish (16th, 21:06) also turned in solid performances, while junior Corey Demsey rounded out the Eatonville squad in 19th place with a time of 21:24.

Girls Recap

In the girls race, junior Grace Coonrod dominated from the outset, claiming first place with a time of 20:34. She finished well ahead of the rest of the field, giving the Cruisers a strong start toward their team victory.

Sophomore Hannah Bieker followed with a fifth-place finish, clocking in at 24:23. Right behind her was junior Bridget Stumph, who crossed the line in 24:26 for sixth place. Senior Cheyanne Price added to the team’s success, finishing seventh with a time of 24:48, while freshman Paisley Ashcroft completed the scoring five with a ninth-place finish in 26:54.

Sophomore Savanna Price set a personal best in the race, finishing in 23rd place with a time of 37:12. Junior Alice Alexander rounded out the Eatonville competitors, finishing 26th with a time of 40:16.
