The Eatonville High School boys’ soccer team faced a tough week of competition before heading into Spring Break, dropping one match and grinding out a hard-fought draw in another.
On April 1, the Cruisers hosted the Franklin Pierce Cardinals in a home matchup. The result was a 5-0 loss for Eatonville, marking one of the team’s toughest outcomes of the season.
Looking to bounce back, the Cruisers traveled to Orting on April 3, for another matchup against a Cardinals squad. This time, Eatonville came out with more energy and looked to change the narrative. With just five minutes remaining in the first half, senior Victor Pena-Moreno broke through the Orting back line and buried a shot to give the Cruisers a 1-0 lead. But the momentum was short-lived. Orting responded just before the halftime whistle, scoring with about a minute left to even the match at 1-1.
Both sides pressed for a winner in the second half, trading chances and pushing the pace. The defenses held strong, however, and neither team was able to convert. Despite great effort from both teams, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Cruisers will have a break from action during Spring Break before resuming play on Monday, April 14, when they travel to Foss High School to face the Falcons. The following day, they’ll return home to host the Fife Trojans on Tuesday, April 15. The week wraps up on the road Friday, April 18, with a matchup against the Washington Patriots.
Eatonville heads into the break focused on regrouping and finding consistency as the season enters its final stretch.
