After their season opener against Foss was rained out on Thursday, the Eatonville High School girls tennis team hit the road Friday and secured a 3-1 victory over Franklin Pierce at the Bruce Miller Courts.

The Cruisers won two singles and two doubles matches before rain once again cut play short. Eatonville’s No. 1 singles player, Bailey Andersen, set the tone with a strong 6-2, 6-3 win. The No. 2 singles match saw Kate Marsh battle through a close first set before falling 5-7, 1-6.

In doubles action, Alayna Meyer and Isabel Volk dominated at No. 1, posting a 6-1, 6-2 victory. The No. 2 doubles team of Lillian Bickford and Tia Schanbeck followed suit with a 6-2, 6-3 win. The No. 3 doubles match featuring Megan Blake and Jennavieve Smith was left unfinished due to rain. The pair dropped the first set 3-6 but had gained momentum, leading 5-4 in the second set when play was called.

The Cruisers will face a busy schedule next week, with four matches lined up. They start with Annie Wright on Monday at Galbraith Tennis Center in Tacoma.
