Long time Queen Anne Resident, Dona McAdam, passed on June 30th, 2022, while living at Aegis, Rodger’s Park, on Queen Anne at the age of 86. She will be missed by her family, sister Sandra McAdam, Arizona, and sister-in-law Jane McAdam, Rhode Island. Her brother Alan passed away four years ago. Dona’s many friends will fondly remember her exceptional talents.
Dona was born in Rochester, New York, to Ralph and Marjorie McAdam, the oldest of three children. Her father worked for Kodak, loved photography, and passed this interest on to Dona. On November lst, 1973, Dona moved to Queen Anne, Seattle. She taught classes in weaving for a short time. Soon Dona decided to develop a career as a self-employed graphic artist. Mac on the Hill was born. Dona worked this trade into her 80’s.
Dona completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and an Associate in Applied Science degree from the Rochester institute of Technology, N.Y. She took up the Flute as an adult and played in the Seattle Civic Band for many years. She sang low Alto in the Rain City Women’s Chorus for more than a decade. She served on the Board of Midsummer Musical Retreat, a music camp for adults, for more than ten years, as a graphic artist. She was a devoted fan of Star Gate, attending conferences worldwide. There were always two cats in her home, well loved.
