Norma Lou McBride (née Renshaw) died in her home April 5th, 2024. She leaves behind four children, a son-in-law and daughters-in-law, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, and one special cat - all of whom loved her very much.
She was born in Rapid City, South Dakota on Sept. 14th, 1933 and moved to Oregon at the age of 10, where she spent the remainder of her childhood. She attended the University of Oregon and married Dewey Andrew McBride on April 12th, 1952. The couple spent time in Tennessee and later had many happy family years seaside in Port Orford, OR. She moved to Kapowsin, WA in 1969 where she lived out her life taking care of her home, family and friends.
She worked at different times during her life for the Kirk Company and Flair Fire & Water Restoration, where she made many good friends. She was known for her warm-hearted personality, always putting others before herself. She was a wonderful baker and gardener, an avid reader and a trivia buff. She loved old movies and playing Scrabble, but her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Dewey, parents Barnett and Gladys Renshaw, two brothers, a sister and a daughter-in-law.
Norma was capable, talented and smart and could have chosen to be anything in the world - what she chose to be was a wife, mother and the cornerstone of her family. We will remember and miss her every day.
Norma's life will be remembered at a private family ceremony. If you would like to give a memorial gift, she supported the World Wildlife Fund, Boys Town and the Arbor Day Foundation.
