James “Mike” Buti, born July 23, 1941, died November 22, 2016 at the age of 75. Mike grew up in Eatonville, graduating from Eatonville High School in 1959. After graduation, he began a career in forestry, working as a logger for St. Regis, later known as Champion Logging, for the next 20 years. Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diana (nee Norman), daughters Tricia (Chris) and Susanne (Travis), and grandson Justin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Clara Buti. Mike and family were long-time residents of Roy, where he raised cattle and horses. He installed a love of animals in his daughters, who both were active in equine 4-H for many years. The family would like to thank the caring staff of St. Joseph Hospital and Franciscan Hospice House for their kind care of Mike and support provided to the family. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma.
