Memories, loved ones saluted with Tree of Honor

The Tree of Honor is back for another seasonal salute to the Eatonville community's loved ones.

Located in Nevitt Point Park at the Washington Avenue entrance to the town's north end, the lighted fir tree is sponsored by the Eatonville Day Break Lions Club. Annually, the tree is first lit with gold lights as a Lions symbol. The lights, for a donation of $10 per light, are changed to purple in honor or remembrance of people, groups or even pets.

The donations are used by the club in support of the local community.

During the holiday season, the names of honorees are posted by the club in the Eatonville Post Office until the new year.

In addition, certificates are available "to make a unique Christmas gift," said club member Jackie Hollingsworth.

Information on "purchasing" a light and adding a name to the Tree of Honor is available from Donna Bowers at 253-318-2895, Hollingsworth at 360-832-2416, or any other Day Break Lions member.

So far this year, the Tree of Honor is recognizing John Happy Gayda, Jean Swadley, J.D. Swadley, Lola Daly, Elise Emmett, Diana Simon, Pete Ross, Patricia Ann Rath, Pamela Louise Drake, Kay Lynette Lucht, Greg Patrick Daly, Margaret Barnett, Pat Daly, David Bowers, Ladd Van Cleve, Jim Ray, Wanda Boness, Warren and Anna Leucht, Margaret Anderson and Kent Mundell.
