People in six-figure numbers braved intermittent rain and chilly temperatures to attend the Spring Fair in Puyallup last week. Fair officials reported attendance of 102,090 during the four-day run that ended Sunday. It was the the eighth-largest attendance in the 24-year history of the spring ritual, which is a scaled-down version of the Washington State Fair (formerly known as the Puyallup Fair). New features of the Spring Fair this year included Aussie Kingdom, an exhibit featuring marsupials (animals with pockets) from the land down under, and KidZone Too, where children could ride ponies and milk cows, among other activites. FFA and 4-H membes participated in the annual Northwest Junior Livestock Show. "We designed the Spring Fair to focus on the family, with lots of hands-on activities and free entertainment for every age group,GÇ¥ said Kent Hojem, chief executive officer. "It's extremely satisfying to see that the variety we offer our guests at the Spring Fair by far outweighs the weather."-á
