The 2012-13 4-H shooting sports season begins in November and runs through May at the Upper Nisqually Sportsmen's Club in Eatonville.
The club hosts a seven-month progressive education to prepare for the state 4-H shooting tournament.
Club members are focused on teaching the safe use and enjoyment of shooting and welcome new students and instructors who share an enthusiasm for safety, shooting and community service, said a spokesman for the activity.
Classes are for new comers and returning shooters in .22 rifle, archery and shotgun.-á Each class is led by certified adult instructors.
Students in grades three through 12 are welcome. The youngest must be at least 8 years old at the time of registration.
Costs include a $35 annual registration fee, plus occasional and optional tournament and activity fees. Those interested in registering for more than one discipline will be charged $15 for each additional one.
Shotgun classes have additional costs for clay targets.
Participants provide their own archery equipment, firearms and ammunitino.-áSome club-owned guns are available for use on a first-come basis.
A parent or guardian must be present with each student at all times.
4H programs also include community service component "to help each other and our community,GÇ¥ a spokesman said.
The shooting year begins in November schedule includes:
" .22 rifle on the first and third Sunday mornings of the month, 8:30 to 10:30 or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
" Archery on first and third Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.
" Shotgun on first and third Friday evenings, 6 to-á 8 p.m.
