Bethel High School will host a 5k fun run April 23 that will also serve as a celebration of Junior ROTC's 100th anniversary. The run will be staged at Heritage Park in South Hill, starting at 8 a.m. Participants can register beginning at 7. A registration fee of $24 covers entry and a commemorative t-shirt honoring Junior ROTC. Entry is free for all JROTC and ROTC cadets. Registration and information also is available at http://jrotcanniversary.com/jrotc-anniversar-5k-fun-run/ The local run is part of a worldwide slate of similar events that organizers said are aimed at commemorating ROTC's 100 years of service. Bethel High is among schools locally with a Junior ROTC program.
