Admission to all of Washington's state parks will be free March 30 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the state parks system. The freebie is in keeping with state legislation that created the Discover Pass, a $30 annual or $10 one-day permit required on recreation land managed by Washington State Parks, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The legislation provided that parks could designate as many as 12 days when the pass wouldn't be required. Free days apply only at state parks. The Discover Pass is still required for access to WDFW and DNR-managed areas.
