Arvilla Biggs was born in Eatonville, WA, on May 6, 1928, to Charles C. and Mary (Mensik) Biggs and passed away April 11, 2016, at her son's home in Duvall, WA. After graduating from Eatonville High in 1946, she moved to Seattle and worked for "Ma BellGÇ¥ as a long distance telephone operator. In 1947 she married William (Bill) Toms. Their only child, Robert (Bob), was born in 1948. They moved to Eatonville when Bob was a baby, and Arvy was a stay-at-home mom. Bill drove truck for Nick Kneip. At age 2 Bob had cancer surgery. They moved back to Seattle, and Arvy resumed her job as telephone operator to help pay doctor bills. Bill drove a cab. In 1952 they purchased a home in Mountlake Terrace, the city where Arvy lived until 2015 when she moved in with Bob so he could care for her. During the years in Mountlake Terrace Arvy worked for several auto dealers including her husband Bill, Harris Ford, and Chuck Olson. Arvy and Bill divorced in 1968, and she married Axel (Tom) Edblad in 1975. He passed away in 1987 after the challenges of Alzheimer's. She later legally changed her name so that it would be the same as her son's. Arvy, after retiring, became involved in WICS: Widowed Information and Consultation Service, was on the original Board of Directors for the Mountlake Terrace Senior Center, and helped found OWLS: the Older Women's League. Arvy leaves behind her son, Bob (Becky) Toms; 3 granddaughters, Julie, Bridget (Jeff) McKillop and Wendy Toms; 2 great grandchildren, Levi and Natalie McKillop; her sister, Arlene Noyes; nieces; nephews; several grand and great grand-nieces and nephews; and Tom's family which she loved as her own. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bill Toms and Tom Edblad; her granddaughter Brooke Toms; her brothers Charles H. and Ronald Biggs; sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Harry Miller, and their daughter Marjorie Miller Brustad; brother-in-law Bill Noyes; step-daughter and husband, Mary Ann (Edblad) and Bob Gent. Memorial service will be at 4pm, Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Mountlake Terrace Senior Center, 23000 Lakeview Dr., Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043. Interment will be in the Eatonville Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Mountlake Terrace Senior Center.
