Spiro Manthou on Wednesday became the fourth official candidate for Pierce County assessor-treasurer. When Manthou filed his candidacy Wednesday with the county elections department, he also became the second former Tacoma City Council candidate in the race that's part of this fall's election, joiniing Mike Longergan. Also in the field are Billie O'Brien, an administrator in the assessor-treasurer office, and Tim Farrell, who is a County Council member. Assessor-treasurer is a non-partisan position. The current assessor-treasurer, Dale Washam, hasn't said publicly if he'll seek re-election. He has Thursday and Friday, the last two days of the five-day filing period, to enter the race. His four-year term in office ends at the end of 2012.
