Voting ends today in the primary election, with the finalists for mayor in Eatonville and a Port of Tacoma commissioner seat among the decisions that will be made. Today is when ballots must be postmarked, if mailed to the county elections department, or deposited at official drop boxes. The locations of drop boxes closest to the south area of the county include: " Barney's Corner, at State Route 161 and Eatonville Cutoff Road. " The public transit park-and-ride lot at the Roy Y area of State Routes 7 and 507. " Pierce County Library System's South Hill branch at 15420 Meridian E. Another option for casting ballots today is the six voting centers the county will open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. One will be at the county maintenance facility in Spanaway at 4812 196th St. E. More election information, including other drop box and voting center locations, is available from the elections department at co.pierce.wa.us and 253-798-7430. The Dispatch will report election results at dispatchnews.com beginning at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The newspaper's Aug. 7 print edition won't have results, as it went to press before results were available. For Eatonville's mayor, the primary election race is between Gordon Bowman, Jim Valentine, Mike Schaub and Bud Lucas. Bowman and Valentine are Town Council members, Schaub is the town's elected treasurer, and Lucas is a former fire chief. The top two finishers will advance to the general election in November. Four candidates also are in the running for the Port Commission, which is the only contest in the primary that involves voters countywide. Incumbent Connie Bacon, who has held office for 16 years, faces challenges from Eric Holdeman, Andre Young and Dave Dormier.
