Bicyclist injured in alleged hit-and-run

An Eatonville man riding a bicycle was taken to a hospital after being struck by an automoblie in an apparent hit-and-run on State Route 7 on Thursday, the State Patrol reported. According to troopers, William H. Horn, 43, was riding riding north on the highway when the accident occurred near 52nd Avenue East. He was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma for treatment of injuries. His condition wasn't reported. The pickup truck and its driver that were involved in the incident left the scene but were found later, the State Patrol reported.. Troopers identified the driver as Douglas D. Johnson, a 54-year-old Spanaway man. He was booked into the Pierce County Jail Friday on State Patrol charges of vehicular assault and failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident. The truck was also northbound on SR-7 when it struck the bicyclist, according to the State Patrol.
