Three Bethel Braves finished first or second, and Graham-Kapowsin's Tyler Klein was tops at his weight in the 4A Region III high school wrestling tournament last Saturday. They'll be among the competitors in the Mat Classic state championships this weekend at the Tacoma Dome. Klein punched his state ticket by beating Elli Teuteu of Bethel 8-7 for the 182-pound title in the regionals at Emerald Ridge High School. Joining Teuteu in Tacoma will be fellow Braves Logan Bearss, who won the 152-pound title, and Philip Springsteen, who was the second-place finisher at 126. In the finals, Bearss defeated Todd Brenenstahl of Rogers 2-1, while Springsteen lost to Tahoma's Cruz Velasquez 8-3. Velasquez finished third in last year's state tournament and is considered a strong contender this year. Tahoma won the regionals team championship. Bethel finished fifth and Graham-Kapowsin was sixth in the team standings..
