Commander Carl H. Klindworth, U.S. Navy retired, age 91, went to meet the Lord on Oct. 12, 2014 in Puyallup, Washington. Born Jan. 12, 1923 in Harlem, Montana to homesteading parents Carl C. and Pauline Klindworth, he attended Hogeland High School and UC Berkeley. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942, becoming a pilot, and married Helen M. Anderson on Dec. 29, 1946. Carl served in the Pacific theater during WWII, as well as during the Korean War. During his 25 years in the Navy, Carl and Helen moved many times until his retirement in June 1967, when he and his family relocated to Spanaway, Wash. and later to a farm in Graham, Wash. He worked at the American Plywood Association as a research technician for 10 years. Carl loved working on the family farm, entertaining his grandkids with tractor rides, tending his garden and cows, and lending a hand at the many churches he attended over the years. He is survived by his wife, Helen, son, Kendal (Beverly), daughters Karen (Casey) Kime and Janet (Don) Miller; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Carl was buried with military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery. A memorial service was held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Tacoma on Friday, Oct. 17.
