Change in schools administration

Eatonville High School has a new principal as a result of the old one moving into a central administration role for the Eatonville School District.
Garth Steedman, principal for nine years, has been named business manager of the district. He replaces Cathy Bryant, who retired at the end of the 2011-12 school year.
Replacing Steedman as principal at the high school is Ashley Barker, who was promoted from assistant principal.
Steedman, who has a masters degree in business administration from University of Notre Dame and is working on an education doctorate through the University of Washington, was one of 12 applicants for business manager. A district-appointed committee reviewed the candidates and recommended Steedman, and the School Board accepted that recommendation.
Steedman has been with the Eatonville district for 13 years. Before that, he taught business classes in Enumclaw School District.
Barker has been an assistant principal at Eatonville High the last two years. District superintendent Rich Stewart, who promoted her to principal, said she's deserving of the top job. She previously was a liaison for special-education students in White River School District and taught special-education classes in Puyallup School District.
In another change in the Eatonville district's administration, Kathy Hugh has resigned as transportation director to become an assistant transportation director in Bethel School District. To replace her, the Eatonville district will consider internal candidates and ones from outside, Stewart said.
