An infant from Florida died last week as a result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident on State Route 161 in the Graham-Kapowsin area Sept. 5. The State Patrol reported last Thursday that the boy, less than 1 year old, died at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma, where he was taken after the accident. According to troopers, the infant was from Panama City Beach, Fla., as were a 22-year-old woman driving the car in which the infant and a 3-year-old male were passengers. No other injuries requiring hospitalization were reported. Troopers said the car was northbound and turning left in the 29600 block of SR-161 when it was struck by a truck driven by a 48-year-old man from Vancouver, Wash. The truck was towing a car-haul trailer. The crash was still under investigation and possible charges were pending last week, according to the State Patrol.
