Crash injures driver, cuts electricity

A traffic accident involving a truck hauling lumber sent the truck's driver to a hospital and knocked out electricity in some Eatonville areas Thursday. According to Eatonville Fire and Rescue, which responded to the incident along with South Pierce Fire and Rescue, a semi-truck pulling a container full of lumber ran off the road on Alder Cutoff Road, struck a large stump and a power pole, and ended up entangled in downed utility wires. The driver suffered injuries and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment, said Eatonville fire chief Bob Hudspeth. The vehicle was considered a total loss. The accident reportedly caused electrical outages in the area. Details weren't immediately available. In the aftermath of the crash, the road was blocked from about 7 a.m. until well into the afternoon.
