Crowns waiting for new Daffodil princesses

High schools in south Pierce County are helping fill out the royal court of the 2016 Daffodil Festival. Twenty-four high schools countywide contribute a princess to the festival annually. Bethel's will be picked during a selection ceremony Oct. 29 at 7 p.m., and Eatonville will crown its next princess on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. Graham-Kapowsin hasn't announced its selection process. Early next year, a princess will be chosen to be queen of the festival. She and the princesses will represent their schools, communities and the festival in events such as the Grand Floral Parade next April. Three contestants are in the running to be Eatonville's princess. They include: " Samaria Roberts. The daughter of Tiffany and Allan Matthews has a 3.3 grade point average, is the senior class treasurer and a member of Honor Society, and active in cheerleading, tennis, drama Key Club and tutoring of elementary school students. She plans to attend Saint Martins University beginning next fall to study pre-med and become a cardiothoracic surgeon. " Sarah Murillo. The daughter of Amy Adams and Jose Murillo has a 3.3 grade point average and participates in her school's Drama Club. She has participated in fastpitch, Honor Society and Skills USA, where she was awarded Best in Show for woodworking at the district and state levels. She has also volunteered at College career day, and student Conferences. She plans on attending college and becoming an emergency room nurse. " Cristal Morales. The daughter of Maria and Jason and Daniel and Jen has a 3.2 grade point average. She has been on honor roll student and participated in ROTC. She plans to study business in college and eventually start her own business doing special-effects makeup.
