Cruisers closer to state tournament

Eatonville's Cruisers are one victory away from a chance to compete for the 1A state high school girls soccer championship. The Cruisers beat La Center 2-1 Tuesday to advance to the second round of the District 4 playoffs. They will face King's Way Christian at 5 p.m. Thursday in the first match of a doubleheader at Montesano High and now have two opportunities to play their way into the state tournament. Montesano will host Seton Catholic in the nightcap. The winners of those matches will earn berths in the state tournament and will play Friday at 2 p.m. at Montesano for first and second place in the district. The losers of Thursday's contests will face off at 12 on Friday (also at Montesano) to decide the district's third and final seed in the state tourney. The Eatonville-La Center match at Art Crate Field in the Bethel School District was a loser-out situation. The loser's season ended, while the winner advanced. Eatonville qualified for the district competition by finishing third in the Evergreen League's regular-season standings with a 10-4 record (10-5 overall).
