Eatonville ran away with the boys' and girls' championships in the Evergreen League high school track meet last Friday in Hoquiam. The results were the final tuneup for the Cruisers before this week's 1A district compeetition at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver. On the line will be berths in the state championships May 29-30. Eatonville's boys scored 204 points to finish ahead of runnerup Montesano, while the Cruisers' girls had 191 points to second-place Montesano's 148. In the boys' meet, Eatonville won six events. A highlight was Justin Kaelin's school record in the discus ast 160 feet 10 inches. He also won the shot put at 55 feet 10 inches and is a strong contender to repeat as state champions in that event. Josehia Hotz won the 400 in 23.34 seconds, and Ron Roberts took the 3,200 in 4:50.54. The Cruisers also won the 4x400 and 4x100 relays. Mia Snyder was a double winner for Eatonville's girls in the 100 and 300 hurdles (17.44 and 51.1 seconds, respectively), and Daisey Newman won the javelin (112-3).
