Fund-raising and brainstorming have begun for Eatonville's community float in the 80th annual Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Parade. As in past years, community members are banding to make the parade entry possible and preserve the Eatonville area's place in future festivals. Without a float in the parade next month, the community wouldn't be eligible to have a princess and participate in next year's festival. Justine Reed, who is helping spearhead the float project, said the fund-raising goal is $1,000 to help meet expenses. She credited Annelise Litzenberger, the current princess from Eatonville High School, Litzenberger's family and other community members for their help organizing efforts for this year's float. Donations can be made through an account that's been established at Key Bank, Reed said. The parade will wind through Tacoma, Puyallup and Sumner on April 13. Its theme is "Magic in Music.GÇ¥ The final product of Eatonville float designer Dawn Newkirk "will be a secret until the day of the parade,GÇ¥ Reed said. "But it will be magical.GÇ¥ Last year's Eatonville float won the Queen's Award, one of the honors presented by the festival to top parade entries. Reed thanked community members for their help "creating a great float last year. Please help make this year's float just as great.GÇ¥
