Aug. 13 is the last day to register for Northwest Magic Boot Camp, a program presented by the Pierce County Parks and Recreation Department. Organizers describe the girls' camp as three hours of intense training under the auspices of Northwest Magic Basketball Club, a non-profit, organization that focuses on basketball fundamental and advanced skills. "This is such an exciting opportunity to be partnering with Northwest Magic,GÇ¥ said Meredith Smith, recreation supervisor for the Parks Department. She said Vanessa McClendon, the founder of Northwest Magic, "is a strong role model to these kids.GÇ¥ Registration is online at www.piercecountywa.org/parks. The registration fee is $45.
