Driving 100 mph lands fugitive in jail

By Pat Jenkins The Dispatch The search for a man suspected of robbing a Spanaway business at gunpoint last month ended because of his lead-foot driving, authorities said. Terry Ray Moser Jr., 35, was caught and arrested by State Patrol troopers after they chased a car Sept. 26 that they spotted driving at speeds topping 100 miles per hour on Interstate 5 near Tacoma. Moser was the object of a plea by the Pierce County Sheriff Department to the public for help finding him after a holdup Sept. 9 of an Autozone store. Last week in Pierce County Superior Court, he pleaded innocent to charges of assault, robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm in connection with the robbery. More court proceedings, including a possible jury trial, are scheduled for November. According to the State Patrol, the high-speed pursuit of the car Moser was driving began at about 11 p.m. and went from I-5 to parts of State Routes 512, 7 and 410. It came to an end when troopers forced the car to stop and took Moser into custody on suspicion of reckless driving and resisting arrest. In the robbery of the automotive supply store, Moser allegedly wore a wig and was armed with a handgun, which he pointed at a store clerk while demanding cash from the register and from customers. He fired two shots into the ceiling of the store and another shot at an employee as he drove out of the parking lot in a white sedan. The car crashed a short distance away and Moser fled on foot, authorities said. While he was at-large, Moser was described by the Sheriff Department as "armed and dangerous.GÇ¥
