Men accused of robbing four businesses in one day

Three men have been jailed and charged in connection with a one-day string of robberies in Spanaway, Frederickson and other Pierce County locations. Pierce County prosecutors filed charges of robbery and attempted robbery last week against James Jamal Robinson, 19, Darion Anthony Tilley, 20, and Javohn Lee Smith, 17. The defendants pleaded not guilty. Bail for each was set at $250,000. "We are thankful the Sheriff Department put a quick end to this violent crime spree before anyone was seriously hurt,GÇ¥ said Prosecuting Attorney Mark Lindquist. "We will vigorously prosecute these individuals and hold them accountable.GÇ¥ The robberies, all on April 8, began at about 5:20 a.m. at a 7-11 convenience store in the Lakewood area. Two defendants entered the store, pointing a gun at the clerk and a customer, and left after stealing cash from the register and items off the shelves, according to authorities. Over the next hour, three more holdups were staged in similar fashion at a Spanaway-area Walgreen drug store, the Bikini Bottoms Espresso stand in the 7900 block of 176th Street East in Frederickson, and another 7-11 store in the South Hill area. Sheriff deputies stopped a car carrying the defendants and found them with cash, a .38 handgun and a BB gun, prosecutors said. Tilley and Robinson were also charged with another on March 16, Lindquist said.
