Emily Menefee of Graham-Kapowsin finished 13th in the state high school bowling tournament in Tacoma. Menefee, a senior, rolled a score of 1,085. The champion was Wylicia Faley of Battle Ground, who bowled 1,397. It was Faley's second state title. She also won in 2012. Menefee qualified for the state meet, which was staged Feb. 7, by finishing eighth in the West Central District tourney by knocking down 481 pins. Also in the district meet, Carolina Snowden of Spanaway Lake earned a berth in the state tournament, and the Sentinels as a team finished fifth. Spanaway Lake won the South Puget Sound League tournament and tied for fourth place overall in the SPSL regular-season standings. Snowden led all individuals in the league tourney with a 610 over 3 games. Graham-Kapowsin finished second in the SPSL tournament, paced by Menefee'ss three-game tally of 525, and tied for the regular-season championship. Bethel finished fourth at the league tournament, led by Callie Carter (488). At the district meet, the Braves' Amber Hammond finished as an alternate for the state tournament.
